What is MICROBLADING

Microblading is a manual method of implanting pigment in hair-like strokes in the epidermis to create the look of fuller brows. This form of tattooing is the newest trend in Semi-Permanent Makeup. The natural-looking results are achieved with a sharp, hand-held manual blade made up of 7+ micro needles. Instead of outlining and completely filling in the outline of your brows with color, Microblading actually allows for the placement of hair strokes into the skin. Whereas traditional tattooing uses needles on a rotary/coil machine to push ink 7 layers deep into the skin, Microblading uses a manual blade and only targets 3 layers of skin. Because the pigment sits so superficially in the skin the strokes are sharp, crisp, and they mimic the look of real hair!

MICROSHADING VS MICROBLADING: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

This amazing technique is considered permanent, because it enters the dermal layer of the skin. The main difference between microblading and microshading is that the microblading technique gives a simulated hair affect, whereas the Microshading Ombre technique makes it appear as though you have powder filled eyebrows, similar to the look achieved with makeup.

Another great benefit of this Permanent Make Up technique is that it last longer than Microblading. The average lasting of Eyebrow Shading is 1-2 years, depending on different factors such as skin type and lifestyle.

How long does the appointment last?

Typically 2 hours. The majority of the appointment is spent getting your brows shaped, answering all of your questions, mapping and drawing your brow shape, deciding on color and discussing aftercare. The actual microblading procedure is about one hour. Most clients are surprised to find that gorgeous semi-permanent brows take less time than a full set of eyelash extensions!

Do you need to meet for a consultation first?

We do your consultation online and finalize on the day of the actual service. As I mentioned above, the appointment is usually 2 hours and the first hour is the consultation. Only after I get your, “Ok, let’s do this!” do I begin microblading.

Does the application hurt?

Pain threshold levels vary from person to person, but most clients find the procedure to be pain manageable. A topical anesthetic gel is used during the procedure. No one finds it unbearable and everyone says that it is ABSOLUTELY worth it!

Note — pain is considerably increased two days prior to the start of your menstrual cycle and for the first three days of your menstrual cycle.

Are semi-permanent hair stroke tattoo eyebrows deemed permanent?

Semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the eyebrow embroidery pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

With microblading a small blade is used to scratch the surface of the skin and implanting ink, versus a tattoo machine or a tattoo gun that deposits ink penetrating the second layer of the skin.

Will I still need to wear brow make-up?

Depending on your desired look, however most people no longer wear brow make-up once they have microblading and shading. Shading is meant to enhance your natural brows, so if you prefer a dramatic filled-in look, then YES, you will still need make-up to achieve that.

How long can I expect my microblading to last?

The results cannot be guaranteed as to how long eyebrow tattoo results will last.

That said, the pigment used in brow microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 12-18 months. The pigment will begin to fade around 10 months, so maintenance appointments (referred to as touch-up or color boost) are recommended. See pricing for details.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brows to fade faster:

  • Age

  • Skin type (oily skin fade faster, dry skin retains more pigment)

  • Anti-aging skincare products on the brows (retinol will exfoliate skin and cause more fading)Sun exposure

  • Exposure to chlorine and/or salt water

  • Exfoliants

  • PostCare & AfterCare (10 day healing process is imperative that you follow the directions precisely)

Does everyone need a six week touch up?

Microblading and microshading brows is considered a two-step procedure, everyone will need a touch-up.

What is Dermaplaning?

Monthly dermaplaning is the golden ticket to clear, dewy, beautiful, and smooth skin!

A dermaplaning facial treatment involves using a surgical scalpel held at a 45-degree angle that is safely and gently skimmed across the face, removing dead skin cells, bacteria, and vellus hair. Dermaplaning was designed for maximum exfoliation benefits that smooth the epidermal layer of skin by removing the dead skin cells that can dull complexion, resulting in a flat and smooth skin surface.

The added benefit of removing vellus hair, reduces shadowing and reveals smooth, bright, and younger looking skin that gets trapped underneath the dead layer of skin.

Dermaplaning also promotes deeper penetration of your skincare products, which enhances the investment you’ve been making on your skin already, in addition to providing a smooth, dewy surface for makeup application. This facial treatment can also improve acne scarring, help prevent future acne breakouts by reducing pore congestion, and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. All those benefits from a 30 minute treatment! Dermaplaning can be a stand-alone treatment but we suggest complimenting it with a facial for optimal results.

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is the first microneedling device cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat acne scars. It’s also used to address hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, neck wrinkles, and surgical scars in patients who are 22 or older.

SkinPen skin rejuvenation treatments are minimally invasive. The pen-like handpiece contains 14 fine microneedles that repeatedly pierce the skin, creating thousands of microinjuries.

The punctures stimulate your body’s natural wound-healing process, releasing growth factors and boosting the production of new collagen and elastin. Because of that, microneedling is also known as collagen-induction therapy.

At least three SkinPen treatments are recommended for best results. Each treatment takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Appointments are typically spaced three to six weeks apart.

The treatment boasts little downtime—and unlike some other microneedling methods, it can be safely used on all skin tones and skin types.

How soon will you see SkinPen results?

Initial results can sometimes be seen within a week of your first treatment, but since the skin conditions often being treated—acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation—are often rooted deep in the dermis, it can take longer to see optimal results. Plus, it takes time for your body to undergo its skin-rejuvenating repair process.

After your series of treatments is complete, continued maintenance is recommended, which might mean doing a SkinPen treatment quarterly or biannually, to maximize and extend results.

Tip: Between treatments, refrain from using any at-home microneedling devices without first consulting your doctor. It’s very easy to misuse them and end up damaging your skin’s texture.
